Clerical Assistants

Clerical Assistants

ClericalAs clerical assistants, volunteers work under the supervision of a building principal or classroom teacher. Frequently, clerical assistants work behind the scenes to make a difference.

At the beginning of a school year, principals request assistance during the registration period for selling school supplies and school spirit shirts, greeting new families, and doing clerical chores.

During the school year, clerical assistants help by using computers to create documents, proofreading, making copies, collating materials, laminating classroom materials, greeting guests, preparing parent newsletters, and filing.

Typically, when a volunteer accepts a clerical assistance role, volunteer time will not provide opportunities to interact with students although the work done by the volunteers will make a difference in classrooms.
