Throughout the program, instruction in English language arts provides structured and sequenced learning for students, coupled with many opportunities for enrichment.

Since skill in one aspect of language serves as a bridge to learning competency in other language skills, the English language arts program incorporates a fused curriculum. Reading and writing skills are taught along with the study of grammar, usage, speaking, listening, and literature.

The literature included is designed to broaden students' insights by allowing them to experience people, places, and events which may not otherwise be available to them and to develop critical thinking by engaging in discussions and projects designed to foster communication and thought.
