General Information
One of the hallmarks of our school district is that we value open communication with parents and community members. There are many ways that suggestions, questions, and concerns can be addressed with teachers, campus and central office administrators, and with the Board of Trustees.
Parents
If you are a parent, the most effective avenue of communication is to contact your child’s teacher first, followed by a campus administrator.
Community
If you are a community member with no children in school, contacting the central office at 832.249.4000 is a good first step. Your area of concern can be addressed by a director or associate superintendent responsible for that phase of school district operations.
Contact Board of Trustees
The Klein ISD Board members are elected officials who act on behalf of the public. They are accessible to the public and want to assist parents and community members who have suggestions, questions, or complaints regarding KISD schools. After listening to the issue that is brought to them, they may inform you of the appropriate process to follow or refer the individual to the appropriate school district employee. Please note that each Board member has a district email. Click the Board of Trustees link on the left to e-mail a Board member.
It is important to note that all Texas School Boards are bound by the state Texas Open Meetings Act (TOMA) laws. Deliberate communication outside of a Board meeting that is designed to include a quorum (four members) is not legal. Thus, sharing information regarding the polling of opinions of other board members regarding a topic for action on the agenda is inappropriate and places Board members in the position of a possible TOMA violation.
Board meetings are held the second Monday of the month at the central administrative offices at 7200 Spring-Cypress Road. If you would choose to address the Board members at a Board meeting, you can do so during the Citizen’s Inquiry portion of the meeting. Forms are available through the secretary of the Board and can be obtained prior to or during the meeting.
