Hassler Elementary Lunch and Learn |
Peggy Winters
Hassler Elementary Resource Specialist
Winters initiated Summer Lunch and Learn; an eight-week program held on Tuesdays during the summer at Northwood Assembly Church, a neighborhood church that volunteered its facility. She and more than 25 teachers and staff from Hassler and the KISD community helped 30 children with skills needed to prepare them for the upcoming school year.
“I am excited, nervous and very proud to be chosen for this honor,” said Reyes. “I want to thank both of my managers, Linda and Karlyn, for encouraging me to get involved with certification, as well as participating in German Fest. I also want to give a big thank you to all the people that I work with at Klein High School and, of course, thanks to God.”

Educational Technology – National School Board Association (NSBA) Technology Site Visit |
Ann McMullan
Executive Director of Educational Technology
McMullan coordinated the NSBA Technology site visit held Feb. 19-21, 2012. On the two-day visit, guests toured Vistas and Klein Forest high schools, Krimmel Intermediate, McDougle and Benignus elementary schools and the KISD Network Operations Center. Visitors also attended breakout sessions offered by Klein ISD employees that feature how technology is embedded throughout the curriculum.
"She initiated all of the organization for the visit,” said Dr. Susan Borg, associate superintendent of instruction and student services. “Ann took great initiative for our district as we were selected by the NSBA as one of only four technology site visits this year.”

Holly Walsh
Krimmel Intermediate
Walsh implemented the Watt Watchers and Environmental clubs at Krimmel Intermediate in an effort to help students understand the importance of learning how to preserve the world through conservation. The Watt Watchers received recognition from the KISD Energy department for their efforts in learning how to consume less energy at Krimmel and ultimately reduce energy costs for the campus.
She also initiated the Krimmel Outdoor Garden and Learning center which is maintained by the Environmental club and special education students. Classrooms across the campus may reserve the outdoor learning center for science, art or outdoor learning activities.

Nomination Process |
|
Nominations for these awards are made by directors and/or administrators across the district. Dr. Cain then chooses employees that have assisted beyond their daily responsibilities based on the following guidelines: (1) the nominee’s contribution creates a measurable benefit to staff and students; (2) the employee initiates projects on a voluntary basis; (3) the nominee’s performance is aligned with the district’s mission; (4) the employee’s work creates a lasting legacy. Winners are announced in April and recognized at the annual district banquet.
