Klein ISD Recognizes the Efforts of Local Chambers of Commerce

During the July 8, 2013, Klein ISD Board meeting, four local Chamber of Commerce organizations received special recognition for going above and beyond in helping to promote positive work in public schools and the Klein ISD. The Klein ISD is fortunate to have these wonderful organizations around the community to help promote quality of life and help build a thriving community. Each chamber takes this mission seriously and as a result, the Klein community is a wonderful area to do business and to raise children and for that, we are thankful. Each organization received the Klein ISD Ambassador Award for their efforts. Chambers recognized at the meeting included: Spring-Klein, Houston Intercontinental, Greater Tomball Area and Houston Northwest.

Klein Employees Near and Far Participate in Professional Learning COmmunity Conference

This summer more than 450 teachers, principals and administrators across the Klein ISD participated in a Professional Learning Community (PLC) at the Klein ISD Multipurpose Center at the end of June. The three-day PLC focused on three objectives which included collaboration, instruction and assessment. .

One associate principal from Strack Intermediate, Robert Foster, wanted to participate but had a standing obligation in Saudi Arabia. Each summer Foster treks to the country to provide driver education to children of oil workers stationed in the country. Because of his commitment to the district and wanting to partake in this conference, Foster chose to participate through Skype, even though that meant starting at midnight, his time, and after having already put in a full day of work. Strack principal, Steve Owen, and other campus administrators took Foster to sessions throughout the event via a laptop. The materials needed for the conference were also sent electronically to him so that he could follow along.
