Aug. 27, 2012- The 2012-13 school year marks the 75th anniversary of the Klein Independent School District (ISD). During the summer, a committee consisting of district employees, administrators and members of the Klein community was formed to begin planning for activities and events throughout the year.
In 1849, German immigrants, led by Adam Klein, settled this area in the northern part of Harris County. Shortly thereafter, a bustling farming community emerged and became known as Klein. In 1938, the school district was officially named the Klein Independent School District in honor of Adam Klein. Since that time, the area has transformed into a thriving suburban region, filled with a variety of businesses and amenities that make Klein an optimal location for families to settle and establish strong roots. Through the work of the committee, a commemorative 75th logo was developed. The logo was intended to honor the diamond anniversary and the district's strong heritage, excellence in education, and unique dedication to the future vision and success of the Klein ISD.
An interactive website is available at www.kleinisd.net/75. Here you will learn more about the rich history in Klein, and how you can share your memories and get involved in the celebrations taking place across the district. Be sure to visit the site often as updates are posted throughout the year, and also follow us on Facebook, Twitter and KleINTOUCH for exclusive content and updates.
In an effort to recognize those who have had a significant contribution to the success of the district, both past and present, the district will honor 75 Diamonds. Nominations are being submitted from the Klein community for individuals, families, organizations or businesses that have made a noteworthy impact in the Klein ISD through their leadership and commitment to excellence in public education. To enter a nomination based on the above criteria, click here. Deadline is Monday, Jan. 7, 2013. Finalists are chosen by a selection committee of district and community members, and announced beginning March 2013.
There are several ways in which a business, community organizations and individuals can support events and activities for students, teachers and the community during the 75th anniversary year. Sponsorships are arranged in six levels by monetary contribution, and include: diamond ($7,500), pearl ($5,000), ruby ($2,500), emerald ($1,000), sapphire ($250) and friends of the district ($100).
