Klein ISD Multipurpose Center Now Open
Center serves as district's prime location for trainings and events
Aug. 15, 2012 - The Klein ISD opened its newest facility in the new Multipurpose Center in June 2012 located at 7520 FM 2920, Klein, Texas, 77379. The center was a part of the 2008 Bond program and will serve as the district’s home to professional development sessions and two operational departments.

The building encompasses more than 125,000 square feet and is a unified location for several district events. The facility contains technology and large meeting spaces to accommodate a capacity of 600. Since opening, the Administrators Leadership Academy and New Teacher Orientation, which included more than 300 new teachers to the district, was held at the Center.

“It’s been a great experience to be here because a lot of the basic computer and technology things that we’ve been talking about has been easier to learn here at the center. I am even more excited to now be a part of Klein,” said Johnathan Cranford, a new teacher in Klein ISD Therapeutic Education Program.

Professional development training was previously conducted in several facilities throughout the district and Klein community. These sessions are now being held in one central location, thereby relieving the need for staffing during the summer months at other campuses and eliminating the reliance on outside venues.

Stephanie Edgar, instructional officer in the Klein ISD, has witnessed first hand the amenities of the new center and noted the value of being able to have events such as the New Teacher Orientation. Photos available on Facebook, click here.

“All of the technology and space we need is here,” Edgar said. “Being able to hold an event like this at the Multipurpose Center represents what Klein is about. We place a strong emphasis on staff development and value close, faculty relationships, and this facility makes it possible.”

The Klein ISD Multipurpose Center is also the new home for the annual Future Farmers of America (FFA) Livestock and Project Show, educational technology classrooms, plant operations and nutrition and food services departments. The FFA program now has a vast space for housing animals during the annual show, and an air-conditioned auction arena for attendees and bidders. A state of the art test kitchen was built to enable the food services department to certify the safety of equipment and products before they are released to the campuses.
