Tyler Hudson Used Heimlich Maneuver in Frank Lunchroom

Tyler Hudson noticed something unusual in the lunchroom of Frank Elementary School on January 5 when he saw a classmate turning red and choking. When instinct told him that she was not acting, he quickly left his seat and performed the Heimlich maneuver, saving her life.

His parents Christina and Rodney Hudson are understandably proud of their son. His father stated that Tyler is a hero because he thought quickly and acted responsibly. He said, "I am proud to say my son did that." His mom noted, "This is what parents live for, their son doing something right."

Associate principal Theresa Scardino stated, "Tyler acted in a responsible, reliable, respectful manner. We are so proud of him."

School nurse, Mary Wysocki, called Tyler's parents to give them the good news that Tyler had saved the life of a fellow student.

Tyler's actions were especially meaningful for the family because Mr. Hudson has worked as an EMT and is a firefighter at Station 5 with the Houston Fire Department.
