What is the Unite for Understanding Council?
Unite for Understanding is a community-wide council consisting of representatives from the schools, community leaders and social service organizations and parents. Advisory council members are committed to the public schools as the common denominator in providing equal opportunity. Members offer guidance and the promise of support in the recognition of cultural diversity, equity, and mutual respect.
Who serves on the council?
Various community leaders from civic groups, business and faith-based organizations as well as parents will represent the Klein community from all areas of the district. Administrators, counselors, and teachers may volunteer to serve on the council representing schools.
When does the council meet?
The council meets quarterly to support the efforts of the school district in achieving goals of tolerance and understanding within the Klein community. The council will recommend ways in which these ideals might be endorsed.
What is the general purpose of the council?
•Engage in cross community dialogue for the benefit of student groups.
•Promote environments that will help students feel safe, comfortable, accepted and connected.
•Suggest participatory ways students and their parents might grow in their cultural awareness and sensitivity while
demonstrating respect for others.
