Klein ISD students in Grades 6-12 may earn Credit by Examination (CBE) for secondary school courses in which they have had no prior instruction. Each CBE tests one semester of a course. If the student scores 90 or above, credit is awarded for that semester. Students should see their school counselor for a CBE testing schedule and to register for a test.
Students in Grades 1-5 may skip a grade level by taking Elementary Credit by Exam (CBE) in Reading, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies for the grade level he/she wishes to skip and by scoring 90 or above on each. Parents should visit the school principal for more information on this process. Kindergarten students who meet the state enrollment requirements may skip Kindergarten by scoring in the 90th percentile on each subtest of a norm-referenced Kindergarten achievement test.
