The Central Warehousing operation consists of the Director of Warehousing, Dock Foreman, leader, seven full time warehousemen, Textbook Specialist/payroll, Fixed Asset/secretary, and Purchasing/Records Management Specialist. Central Warehousing serves forty-four schools plus all district support departments with management and delivery of inventory consumables, furniture, and equipment as well as vendor shipped items. Also, services provided include pickup, storage, and auction of obsolete/surplus material, office relocation moves, interdepartmental mail, postal mail, and storage of non-inventory departmental property. The warehouse manages the receipt, storage, order picking, and distribution of inventory valued in excess of $700,000.
Operations
Deliveries to the Klein Independent School District can to be made to the Central Warehouse between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Inventory Control
All products that are received and processed through the Central Warehouse are tagged and inventoried by warehouse personnel.
Records Management
The Warehouse Records Management team handles the processing of all paper records for the district, including boxing, inventorying and destroying when appropriate.
Textbooks
The Director of Warehousing is assigned the duties of District Textbook Coordinator with responsibilities of managing the legal requirements of providing textbooks to the district's forty-four schools. These duties include an annual inventory of textbooks to comply with strict ordering guidelines administered by the Texas Education Agency. This year the warehouse processed and distributed approximately 160,000 textbooks and related workbooks worth over $11 million dollars.
