Since good health is essential for optimum growth and achievement, the major objectives of the school health program are to provide health services to students and to stimulate the development of those attitudes and practices which will enable each child to realize his or her fullest potential. Klein ISD employs a registered nurse at each campus to provide health services for all students.
The flu vaccine is now available at all HCPHES Health clinics for children (age 3 and older) and adults.
The cost is $12 per person. The flu shot is given on a first come first served basis.

Hearing & Vision Screening - All 4 year olds, kindergartners, 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th graders will be screened by TDH certified screeners for vision problems each year. Also, all students new to Texas schools will be screened. Hearing & Vision screening will be done at any grade level on any student who may be suspected of vision loss by the classroom teacher or the parent.
Special seating arrangements in the classroom shall be made for students with vision or hearing defects on recommendation by the school nurse.
Scoliosis Screening - All 5th and 8th grade students will be screened for spinal abnormalities.
Risk Assessment for Type 2 Diabetes - All 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th graders will be screened for risk factors associated with Type 2 Diabetes. If abnormalities are found, parents will be notified to take their children to their personal physician for further evaluation and follow up.
