Open Records Requests
The Public Information Act
The Public Information Act (PIA) gives the public the right to request access to government information. The request must ask for information already in existence. The PIA does not require Klein ISD to create new information, perform legal searches, or answer general questions.
To Request Information
Before you submit a public information request, please review the Klein ISD website. The information you are seeking may be available online. Your request must be in writing, delivered in person, sent by U.S. mail, fax or e-mail. Under the Public Information Act, only written requests trigger the District’s obligation to provide a response.
By mail or in person to:
Public Information Specialist
Klein Independent School District
7200 Spring-Cypress Road
Klein, TX 77379
For questions about the Public Information Act or if you believe that the District has not responded as required by the Public Information Act, you may contact the Open Government Hotline at (512) 478-6736 or toll-free (877) 673-6839.
Members of the media should contact the department of Communications and Planning for inquiries that are not formal public information requests.
Requests for Student Records
Student record requests and requests for official transcripts should be made directly with your campus registrar. Contact information for each campus can be found on the Klein ISD Campus Directory page.
