 The Benefits & Medical Leave Department provides support for employee health insurance 
& supplemental benefits and also supports employees requesting a long-term leave of absence.

What defines benefit-eligible? 

Full-time employees who are eligible to receive the district contribution of medical insurance premiums. Less than full-time employees who regularly work at least half time (.5 FTE) for their assigned role are eligible to receive the District contribution of medical insurance. Employees on a leave of absence, excluding FMLA, are not considered benefit-eligible. Substitutes are not considered benefit-eligible.

The benefits and leaves department has implemented a new telephone prompt system to more quickly connect employees to the correct person to assist.

When calling one of the Klein’s Benefits Specialists (Susan or Jennifer) the following options are available:

Press 1 for Benefits Enrollment and Benefit Plans Questions – Your call goes to the District’s external benefits call center who is licensed in the insurance products offered. 

Press 2 for Leaves, FMLA and Qualifying Life Events – Your call goes directly to Susan or Jennifer.

Press 3 for General Inquiries – Your call goes directly to Susan or Jennifer.
