Nonviolent Crisis Prevention & Intervention
(NCPI, NCI or CPI) is a global copy-written program developed in 1980 that provides training for the Care, Welfare, Safety and Security copy-write logoof persons involved in a crisis situation.

Klein ISD adopted this person-centered program to meet the needs of students and staff.  NCI participants worldwide include providers in human services, education, health care systems, social welfare, residential services, mental health, law enforcement, security and corrections.

Participants are trained in verbal deescalation techniques to assist in crisis and potentially violent situations with confidence.  Participants are also trained in physical intervention techniques to assist in high risk physical situations in the moment they are occurring if imminent harm is displayed.

The state of Texas requires certain educational disciplines to be trained in approved crisis deescalation and physical restraint techniques.  The Texas Education Agency requires educational crisis teams to be developed and trained in an approved crisis deescalation and physical restraint program, therefore in Klein ISD, we use NCPI.
