Crossing Guard Information

The Crossing Guards work 177 days each school year and are responsible for the safety of the students at designated school crossing zones. The crossing guards are assigned in the morning before school and again in the afternoon as school is dismissed.

Have a pleasing personality;
Be able to work effectively with students and patrons as determined by the crossing guard coordinator;
Must be able to develop a working relationship with principals;
Must be at work assignment each day for the 177-day school session;
Must be willing to work in inclement weather for extended periods of time;
Must abide by all rules and regulations outlined in the crossing guard procedures and directives manual;
Must be able to stand and walk continuously for time periods of one (1) hour or more;
Reports to the Crossing Guard Coordinator;
Will be subject to assignment as determined by the Chief of Police;
Must attend a four (4) hour paid traffic control training class.

Position Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age
Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License or picture ID
Must have transportation
The crossing guards enjoy the interaction they have with the students they come in contact with daily and take comfort in knowing that these children will get to school safely and return home safely. Several of the crossing guards are mothers and retired individuals that want to have some flexibility with their time and this part-time job affords them this. Also, we work only when the children are in school so the crossing guards are able to be home when their children are.

Crossing Guard Coordinator

Luis Moscoso started at Wunderlich Intermediate School and then went onto Klein Forest High School where he graduated in 1998. While at Klein Forest, he was a member of the National Art Honor Society, National Honor Society, Hispanic Heritage Society and played soccer all four years.

Prior to coming to Klein ISD, Luis's background entailed mortgage servicing. He had the opportunity to work at one of the largest mortgage servicing companies here in Houston. At that company he was a member of the Executive Resolution Team, where he handled all presidential complaints and worked on a resolution with the customer and government officials. The last position he held was a Fannie Mae Loss Mitigation Specialist where he worked with customers whose loans where in default and in a foreclosure process.

Luis came to Klein ISD Police Department in April of 2013, almost two years later he can say he found a job he would like to retire in.
