Credit by Exam

What is Credit by Exam?

Credit by Exam/Exam for Acceleration provides an opportunity to earn grade level or course credit in which no prior formal instruction was completed. Credit by Exam is designed for a very small percentage of students who have an academic and emotional need to advance to the next grade level. Credit by Exam is not designed for grade level advancement after a student has been retained in a previous grade level. Typically, less than 5% of students who attempt to skip an entire grade level are successful.

Accelerated Math Pathway.

Grade 5 Advanced Math:

Grade 5 Advanced Math is a program that will deepen and enrich the 5 Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills Standards and expose students to the next level concepts as they directly correlate with certain 5th grade skills and concepts. Compacted learning will occur when & where appropriate to extend the learning vertically. The  instruction, however will be rigorous and concentrate on developing various current grade level skills. Students will be required to demonstrate fluency, application and abstract understanding in Numerical Representations and Relationships as well as Computations and Algebraic Relationships.

Through such rigorous instruction, students who successfully complete Math 5 Advanced Math will more easily transition into advanced mathematics courses at the Intermediate level.

Advanced Science (Content is compacted over 2 years)

Intermediate Advanced Science:

Secondary ELA G/T Humanities (Grades 6-10)

This program is an innovative approach incorporating classic literature, grammar, poetry and writing. The program emphasizes above-level cognitive experiences, opportunities to practice advanced problem-solving, interdisciplinary learning, extends and enriches selected grade-level TEKS, and explores aspects of human creativity in the arts in a variety of intellectual fields and leadership. This course is the launch for an advanced learning pathway for gifted learners which will eventually lead students to success in Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses, as well as successful completion of the AP Capstone and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programs.
