Early College High School

Vistas ECHS Applications open on February 1, 2024,  for the 2024-2025 school year.

Please contact your student's 8th grade school counselor to complete and submit the application form.

For additional information in person, interested 8th graders and their parents are welcome to attend one of the Vistas Early College High School informational nights at Vistas High School Program (12550 Bammel North Houston, Houston, 77066) which will take place at the dates and times listed on this page.

The Vistas ECHS will offer students the opportunity to earn an Associates degree from Lone Star - University Park, transferrable to any Texas public college or university. Klein ISD students will benefit from this program at no cost. By providing high school students the option to earn an associate degree, or up to 60 hours of college credit from the Vistas ECHS, families have the opportunity to decrease the burden of college debt and get a head start on their future.

Are 9th graders ready to be college students?

Faculty and staff at both Vistas ECHS and Lone Star University Park provide students with academic, social, and emotional support to help them be successful and provide a strong education. We believe that every student is capable of succeeding at Vistas ECHS if they are willing to work hard and are determined to learn behaviors needed to be successful so that they can become more confident and independent to pursue a degree or a career when they graduate.

Vistas Early College High School is looking for students who

• Are comfortable in smaller classes on a smaller campus
• Reside in Klein ISD and meet the requirements to be promoted from 8th grade to 9th grade at the end of the school year
• Are willing to start their 9th grade year at Vistas ECHS and continue through all four years until completing both their high school requirements and up to 60 college hours
• Might be the first in their family to attend college, including those who may be traditionally underrepresented in college admissions
• Are looking for ways to attend college at no cost to them
• Are willing to provide the energy and focus that it takes to work on their academics both in high school and college coursework
• Are more interested in student-driven clubs and other activities than participating in school sponsored activities such as athletics, band, cheerleading.
• Are willing to attend a two-week Summer Bridge Program

Tutoring & Summer Bridge Program

Vistas Early College High School provides students a tutoring period each day of the school year to get additional help from their classroom teachers.

During the Summer between an incoming Vistas ECHS student’s 8th and 9th grade year - incoming students are required to attend an 8-day Summer Bridge Program.  The purpose of the Summer Bridge Program is to provide an opportunity for incoming students to get to know each other as well as the Vistas ECHS staff and to begin preparing for the program to be ready to start in the Fall.  Activities include team building, student expectations, transcript review, overview of graduation requirements, Lone Star - University Park registration, tour of Lone Star College - University Park, TSI prep and TSI testing.

*Group B students enter Vistas ECHS with credit already in Algebra 1 A&B
**Students who already have credit in Spanish 1 A&B will take Spanish 2 A&B instead
