Graduates will have the ability to enroll in & succeed in entry-level college courses at two- and four-year institutions. This includes having the knowledge and skills for success in post-secondary coursework.

What is CCMR?

College, Career, & Military Readiness (CCMR) equips students with the essential skills and knowledge needed for life beyond high school, whether they choose higher education, a career, or military service. Through a variety of resources, curriculum, and activities, CCMR ensures students are well-prepared for their next steps. Engaging in collegiate-level work during high school boosts their chances of college enrollment and degree attainment, leading to higher lifetime earnings. Additionally, earning college credits in high school can significantly reduce tuition costs, making higher education more accessible.

SAVE TIME & MONEY
Graduates will not have to take remedial classes in college!
FIND, ACQUIRE, MAINTAIN & GROW WITHIN A CAREER
Students have the essential skills to embark on a meaningful career after graduation. Career ready graduates can also enroll in additional postsecondary training without the need for remediation.
CHOOSE TO ENLIST IN THE MILITARY
Graduates are prepared if they choose to commit to enlistment with the United States military.
LETTER IN CCMR
Students receiving CCMR status will be eligible for a letter jacket and/or the CCMR insert.
BE ELIGIBLE FOR EARLY RELEASE OR LATE ARRIVAL
CCMR ready juniors/seniors may be eligible and allowed to have early/late arrivals.
BE ELIGIBLE TO EXEMPT FROM FINAL EXAMS
Students who have CCMR Ready status may be exempt from final exams.

How can parents support their children?

Parents will receive an update on their student’s CCMR status in Skyward Family Access at the end of each fall and spring semester.
Review programs beginning in middle school through high school during course selection.
Students may complete an interest survey such as the "Texas Career Check" and explore programs Klein ISD offers to support their interests.
Determine how their student will obtain CCMR Ready status--SAT, ACT, TSIA, DC, AP exam, College Prep course, or CTE certification(s). Refer to the "Get CCMR Ready for Graduation" section on this page.

Get CCMR Ready for Graduation

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has defined a set of indicators that students can earn to be considered college, career or military ready.

Students who meet ONE (1) of these CCMR indicators are considered "CCMR Ready".

Advanced Diploma Plan & Current Special Education Student

Graduate Under an Advanced Diploma Plan & be Identified as a Current Special Education Student. A graduate who is identified as receiving special education services during the year of graduation & whose graduation plan type is identified as a Recommended High School Plan (RHSP, Distinguished Achievement Plan (DAP), Foundation High School Plan with an Endorsement (FHSP-E), or Foundation High School Plan with a Distinguished Level of Achievement (FHSP-DLA).

CTE Industry-Based Certification

Student completed at least one CTE Industry Based Certifications as outlined by the TEA Accountability System, plus an aligned level 2 CTE course (Class of 2024) or Program of Study Concentrator (Class of 2025) or Program of Study Completer (Class of 2026+).

CTE Concentrator: A student is defined by the State of Texas as a CTE Concentrator upon completion of at least 2 courses within a CTE Pathway for a total of 2 or more credits.

CTE Completer: A student is defined by the State of Texas as a CTE Completer upon completion of 3 or more courses within a CTE Pathway for a total of 4 or more credits.

Graduate with Completed Individualized Education Program (IEP) & Workforce Readiness. A graduate receiving a graduation-type code that indicates the student has completed his/her IEP & has either demonstrated self-employment with self-help skills to maintain employment or has demonstrated mastery of specific employability & self-help skills that do not require public school services.

High School juniors & seniors can take online college preparatory courses, strengthening their English skills prior to enrolling in college & setting them on a path to postsecondary success. Requirement: Students enroll & successfully complete program in ELA. Courses are personalized, self-paced & teacher facilitated - allowing students to focus on skills they need & skip those they have already mastered, with teacher support along the way. Hybrid online/face-to-face course. Students can be enrolled by their ELA teacher or be assigned the course during their flex period. Students can successfully complete the course within 2 weeks if they dedicate at least an hour a day to the course. Teachers, counselors & administrators ensure that students complete the course successfully.
