Social Studies

Klein ISD Social Studies supports and provides students the knowledge and skills to become global learners, thinkers and citizens. Our students will be prepared to innovate, challenge and change the world we live in which is culturally diverse, interdependent. This is accomplished by teaching students social studies skills to engage with the broad concepts of the discipline.

Guiding Principles

We believe that...

  • Students will study connections, change over time and cause and effect of social studies through inquiry-based instruction.
  • Students will grow to be historical thinkers by speaking, reading, and writing using academic language.
  • Students will gain the knowledge and skills to make informed and reasoned decisions that lead to authentic agency and activism in the communities we are a part of.
  • Teachers will engage in inquiry-based learning, utilizing primary and secondary sources to aid student understanding of the present and the past.
