World Languages - LOTE

Klein ISD World Language or Languages Other Than English (LOTE) provides and supports every student with the knowledge and skills necessary to become life-long language learners who acquire a level of proficiency while becoming an effective global communicator. This is accomplished by providing access to high-quality language education that focuses on communication, culture, connection, comparisons and communities.

Guiding Principles

We believe that...

  • Students will acquire language through comprehensible communication and interpretation of authentic resources in the target language.
  • Students will increase communicative competence through developing proficiency in the four language skills: reading, listening, speaking, and writing in the target language.
  • Teachers and students will engage in a thematic and culturally appropriate curriculum and communicate the target language at least 90% of the time to build language proficiency.
