As Superintendent of Schools, Dr. McGown oversees the daily operations and the long-range strategic planning of the school district, working directly with school leaders, district staff, and the school board in order to ensure: the advancement of the district vision and strategic framework; fiscal responsibility, including preparation and adoption of annual budget; development and implementation of policy; district management of day-to-day operations and decisions; quality stakeholder communication and public relations; and the development of student-focused performance goals.

Dr. McGown attended Texas A&M University as a Dwight D. Eisenhower Scholar and received her Master’s and Doctorate in Education from Sam Houston State University.

Dr. Jenny McGown is a positive, student-focused leader who is grateful to serve as the superintendent of schools in Klein ISD, a 54,000+ student public school district located in Klein, Texas. Dr. McGown has spent her entire stateside career in Klein, strengthening the longstanding tradition of excellence and innovation in every role she’s held including classroom teacher, campus principal, executive director, chief learning officer, and deputy superintendent before being named Klein ISD Superintendent in 2019.

Dr. McGown has earned numerous leadership accolades, including being recognized as the 2022 Region 4 Superintendent of the Year and State Finalist for Texas Superintendent of the Year (2022). Throughout her career she has been named Teacher of the Year (2004), Houston Business Journal’s Top 40 under 40 Professional across all sectors (2017), the Houston BizWoman Headliner in Education (2018), American Association of University Women (AAUW) Outstanding Woman in Education (2019), Sam Houston State University Distinguished Educator of the Year (2020), Houston Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business award recipient (2021), a Distinguished Administrator by the Texas Music Educators Association (2021), and a NorthStar award recipient from the North Houston Association (2023). She is nationally recognized as the National School Public Relations Association Top Superintendent to Watch, 1 of only 20 selected across the United States.  Most recently, she was recognized as the Houston Business Journal’s Most Admired CEO (2023).

Dr. McGown played a pivotal role in developing first-in-the-state pathways for students to earn advanced degrees before graduating from high school, including the first-in-the-state Geospatial Engineering and Land Surveying Pathway, and improving overall student performance and outcomes in Academics, the Arts, and Athletics. Under Dr. McGown’s leadership, Klein ISD was named the Districts of Distinction National District of the Year (2021). As the leader of what she calls the “Klein Family”, Dr. McGown has earned the love and respect of students, staff, and the Klein community.

Dr. McGown serves on numerous boards including the Google for Education North America K-12 Advisory Board, the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts Board, the Northwest Assistance Ministries Board, the Klein Education Foundation, and is a member of the Lone Star College Chancellor’s Advisory Council.

Dr. McGown received her Master’s and Doctorate degrees from Sam Houston State University and is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University where she met her husband of over 20 years. Together they have two children, both Klein ISD students since Kindergarten.

Dayna Hernandez is a positive and innovative educational leader with 26 years of experience right here in Klein ISD. She is a homegrown testament to the tradition of excellence and innovation in our district. Dayna is a proud K-12 alumnus of the Klein schools, and has proudly served the school community in a variety of leadership capacities.

Dayna has made it her life’s work to harness the gifts of public speaking, establishing strong partnerships of trust, and commitment to serving others. As an educator, she has wholeheartedly poured these gifts into her career. Before serving for four years as a Teaching and Learning Executive Director, in coaching and supporting principals across the district, her career began in Klein ISD as a student teacher. Later, she was selected in 1999 as Teacher of the Year and then furthered her leadership as an elementary principal, becoming Principal of the Year in 2016. As a forever learner, Dayna has completed the Rice Education Entrepreneur Program to apply business theories to the public education setting.

Dayna enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exercising outdoors, and supporting her church and community efforts. Dayna’s family is deeply-rooted in Klein ISD, as her husband is a teacher and coach at Klein Oak High School, her daughter-in-law a special needs teacher in Klein, and parents of two adult sons community members in Klein.

Dr. Greeney is a graduate of The University of Texas (Austin) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in government, Prairie View A&M University with a Master’s in educational leadership, and a Doctor of Education degree in educational leadership from Sam Houston State University.

Brian Greeney began his teaching career in Aldine ISD and Spring Branch ISD before joining Klein ISD in 2001. Brian taught government and coached swimming at Klein Oak High School before being named an assistant principal in 2005. Brian became the proud principal of Wunderlich Intermediate in 2011, and Klein Oak High School in 2013. During this time Klein Oak was designated a Model PLC Campus and he was named the KISD Secondary Principal of the Year in 2013.

Brian was named Assistant Superintendent of Innovation, Teaching, and Learning of Willis ISD in 2017. After spending 5 years in Willis, Brian gratefully returned to Klein in 2022 as Klein ISD’s new Chief of Schools.

Dr. Greeney is an educational leader who has been recognized as a 2021 TASA Inspiring leader (2021), N2Learning Transforming School Leader (2017), and a Model PLC School principal.

Brian is married to Jessica and they have two girls who both attended Klein schools, Paige and Tori. He is an avid Star Wars fan and loves to spend time with his family or reading a good book.

Dr. Indelicato is a graduate of Southern Methodist University (SMU) with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) with a master’s degree in fine arts and a master’s and doctorate degree from Sam Houston State University in Educational Leadership.

Dr. Indelicato is a proud graduate of Klein Forest High School and attended Kaiser Elementary and Wunderlich Intermediate. After teaching in Conroe ISD and Aldine ISD, he started his administrative career in Klein having the opportunity to serve as an assistant principal at Klein Intermediate and Klein High School and then principal at Klein Intermediate. He was the 2009 Klein ISD Secondary Principal of the Year.

Anthony went on to serve as a leadership consultant at Region 4 for a year and then transitioned to Fort Bend ISD where he served as a high school principal, an assistant superintendent, and most recently as Chief of Staff and Collaborative Communities.

Anthony married Kimberly, a fellow Klein Forest graduate, and they have a daughter named Grace. His hobbies include spending time with family and friends, exercising, and reading. Anthony is excited and feels very blessed to support our vision of every Klein student Entering with a Promise and Exiting with a Purpose.

  School District police are authorized to enforce all laws and may arrest individuals found in violation of those laws. Additionally, officers may write citations for appropriate offenses that are covered by State law including offenses listed in the Texas Education Code. These citations are filed with the appropriate Justice of the Peace.

  Klein ISD Police Officers are commissioned by the Board of Trustees of the District. The authority to commission police officers comes from the Texas Education Code under section 37.081. The Board of Trustees sets the jurisdiction and scope of duties for school district police.

Chief Runnels earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Administration of Justice from Texas Southern University.

Chief Marlon Runnels is a Houston native and a Klein ISD parent. He is a seasoned police administrator with 16 years of experience providing protection, safety, and security to students throughout the greater Houston area. His time working in Klein has afforded him the unique opportunity to be keenly aware of the specific needs of Klein ISD. As a Klein ISD parent and law enforcement professional, he relishes the opportunity to support the growth, needs, and overall safety of the Klein Family everyday.

His former roles include Assistant Chief of Police and Police Sergeant for Klein ISD, Montgomery ISD Chief of Police, Galveston County Sheriff’s Deputy, and time as a Police Officer for the City of Conroe. Chief Runnels is a United States Marine Corp Reserve Veteran who bravely served our country and was deployed during the Operation Iraqi Freedom War.

Chief Runnels is also active in the policing community and holds many affiliations with organizations such as Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA), Houston Area Police Chiefs Association (HAPCA), FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA), Leadership North Houston Class XXVII (LNH), and Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators (HAABSE).

Additionally, he has garnered many awards and accolades, including Campus Safety Magazine Safety Director of the Year (Runner Up- 2019-2020), Former 3rd VP of Texas ISD Police Chiefs Association, and he is a part of a select group of law enforcement leaders to receive the FBI LEEDA Trilogy Award.

Chief Marlon Runnels believes employee empowerment and innovation are essential tenants to the long-term viability of a school-based law enforcement agency. He feels blessed to lead a phenomenal group of men and women who come to work every day to make a positive impact for every student in the Klein family

Dan graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Schreiner University.

Daniel Schaefer became Klein ISD’s Chief Financial Officer in September 2018. He was the former Chief Finance and Governmental Affairs Officer for Brazosport ISD. Mr. Schaefer has over 20 years of experience in public accounting and finance with over half of those years serving public school districts.

Prior to serving in public education, Mr. Schaefer spent ten years in public accounting performing audits and tax related services and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 2000. Mr. Schaefer enjoys taking the “fear out of finance” by making information presented relevant and relatable to the audience.

Dan’s wife, Shannon, is a fitness instructor and manages the many activities of their children Kyle and Katy. Kyle is a graduate of Texas A&M University while Katy is a senior at Tarleton State University.

August is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Sam Houston State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees. His mid-management certification is from Texas A&M University, and he is a Registered Texas School Business Official.

August grew up on a local truck farm, which he describes as “Old McDonald's Farm,” where present day Doerre Intermediate is located. At the age of sixteen, as part of a high school coop program, August began working as a Klein ISD custodian assigned to the district administration building. He continued working for the district and remained on a part-time basis during college.

After graduating from Sam Houston State University, August taught at his alma mater Klein High School before moving to Klein Oak High School. He later transitioned to the maintenance department where he served in several leadership roles before becoming the Executive Director of Facilities and School Services. He currently serves as the Associate Superintendent for Facilities and School Services.

Since becoming a district administrator, August has earned the Commitment to Excellence award from the Gulf Coast Maintenance and Operations Association and the FM for Excellence award from Building Operation Management magazine.
