Hometown Jewel Kendra Scott Inspires Students, Gives Back to Education Foundation
Klein, TX — Kendra Scott, a renowned entrepreneur and jewelry design magnate, stepped into the halls of Klein High School for the first time in 31 years. This household name and Bearkat gem graduated in 1992 and was given a warm welcome home by our Klein High students and staff.
As part of her visit, Kendra Scott visited our Fashion Design and Entrepreneurship classes and gave business advice to 60 of our young aspiring creators and innovators.
“The Houston community, especially the beloved Klein High School community, holds a special place in my heart and has played a crucial role in shaping my journey,” Kendra Scott said. “I made the move to Houston at the age of 16 and proudly graduated from Klein High School. Back then, I was a young dreamer with big ambitions of someday establishing my own business. The dedicated teachers and supportive faculty at Klein played a significant role in nurturing those dreams, and returning to the area that contributed to my growth is truly meaningful.”
Reflecting on her own journey from a high school student to a renowned entrepreneur, Kendra Scott emphasized the importance of her formative years at Klein High School.
“Twenty-one years ago, I created my jewelry company, Kendra Scott, with a mission to make a positive impact,” she continued. “Returning to my high school to surprise both students and faculty and sharing my personal journey, was a moment that felt like coming full circle. It's my hope that by recounting my story, I can inspire the next generation to pursue their aspirations with passion and determination.”
Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown joined the festivities and helped welcome Kendra back to Klein.
“We are grateful that Kendra took the time to visit with our Bearkats, offering them invaluable business advice she’s learned from her firsthand experience as a successful entrepreneur,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “She is an incredible example of someone our Klein schools and community have helped nurture. We are proud to have kind, servant-hearted, and brilliant alumni in Klein ISD like Kendra who come back home to share their success story with our students.”
In addition to ensuring every student received a gift from her Kendra Scott and Scott Bros. jewelry lines, Kendra also gave back 20 percent of purchases from her store in the Woodlands during a “Meet Kendra” event on November 14, along with a donation that matched the percentage earned, to our Klein ISD Education Foundation, which funds classroom grants.
“The Klein ISD Education Foundation is humbled and completely honored to be chosen to partner with Kendra Scott for an unforgettable evening of shopping and true philanthropy,” Klein ISD Education Foundation Director Christy Spisak said. “Her joy and generosity made this a night to remember. Thank you to Kendra Scott and her team for donating to our Klein ISD students and educators.”
