5 Klein ISD Destination Imagination Teams Advance to Global Finals

5 Klein ISD Destination Imagination Teams Advance to Global Finals
Jessica Williams

Klein ISD is thrilled to announce that five teams qualified for the prestigious Destination Imagination Global Finals. This outstanding accomplishment is a testament to our students' unwavering commitment and exceptional talent.

This year, 19 teams from Klein ISD showcased their brilliance at the Texas Destination Imagination Lone Star Finals at the University of Texas-Arlington. Our teams advancing to Globals proudly represent Ehrhardt Elementary, Hassler Elementary, Mittelstadt Elementary, Strack Intermediate, and Vistas Early High School.

Throughout March, Texas Destination Imagination (DI) teams planned, created, and improved upon their team-created solutions for their respective challenges.

"As a coach, I feel like a proud parent watching my team grow and improve with every challenge they take on," Vistas DI Coach Adam Munger said. "Seeing their name announced as a team heading to Globals was an unforgettable moment—the proud, overwhelming joy you don't forget. Their hard work, creativity, and resilience truly paid off, and I couldn't be more excited to see them take this next big step."

The DI Global Finals will be held in Kansas City, MO, from May 22 through May 25. Klein ISD teams and 600 other teams will be tested in 7 distinct categories and will have their performance evaluated by appraisers. During the competition, 75% of the teams' scores are based on their performance during the central challenge solution. The remaining 25% will be based on their success in the instant challenge, which is kept a complete secret until the challenge.

"I have been coaching for about 10 years, and I've never had a team make it to state, much less globals. This team, The Good Vibe Tribes and The Junior Jumping Jellybeans, is magical." Ehrhardt DI Coach Dawn Saenz said. "They are the perfect combination of creativity, intelligence, caring, and being supportive of each other. They have brought out the best in one another and have found so many hidden talents they didn't know they had. This season has been incredible, and we are so excited and honored to advance to Globals and celebrate the love of Destination Imagination and everything it stands for."

In Klein ISD, students can participate in Destination Imagination starting as young as the first grade! In addition, there is a Rising Stars challenge for little learners to put their skills to the test. No prior experience is needed to join DI, but team coaches hold tryouts for students to join.

DI students of all ages have shown they have what it takes to be innovative, critical thinkers in various categories. We can't wait to see them at Globals and cheer them on!

Congratulations to these members of our Klein Family, and good luck at Globals! We are so proud of all of your hard work.
