Ehrhardt Elementary School Awarded $20,000 from KEF for Played in the Shade Lead the Spark Grant
KLEIN, TEXAS – Ehrhardt Elementary School received a Klein ISD Education Foundation (KEF) grant for the “Played in the Shade” project to provide shade during recess.
In a surprise visit orchestrated by the KEF Celebration Express, the school was honored with the grant in the presence of Foundation directors, community members, and our esteemed Superintendent, Dr. Jenny McGown.
Amidst an atmosphere of joy and excitement, the Ehrhardt Elementary staff welcomed numerous Foundation supporters disembarking from the Celebration Express school bus. They presented substantial grants to recipients across the district, including Ehrhardt Elementary.
The elementary school will use the $20,000 grant sponsored by Campus Kids, LLC to enhance the school’s outdoor area by providing shade structures over the elementary playground.
Providing a covered playground ensures Ehrhardt students uninterrupted access to play, regardless of weather conditions. This promotes physical activity and nurtures a joyful learning atmosphere where children can experiment, collaborate, and become better learners.
The project will be conducted in collaboration with the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), which has committed to matching up to an additional $10,000 in funds.
“The Klein ISD Education Foundation is grateful to be able to support our Klein ISD students and educators with grants like this one, which will allow every student to access and enjoy the playground at Ehrhardt Elementary!” Klein ISD Community Relations and KEF Director Christy Spisak said.
This fall, the KEF Celebration Express distributed grants totaling $61,357, enriching educational experiences for our learners. These grants encompass various innovative and engaging projects, from interactive technology tools to writing conferences. The Fall 2024 grant recipients are innovative and serve as a source of inspiration.
We sincerely thank all our grant sponsors who have made these initiatives possible. Your support plays a pivotal role in enhancing the educational journey of every Klein ISD student.
The Klein ISD Education Foundation accepts grant applications biannually, encouraging, facilitating, and acknowledging creative projects that drive academic success for our Klein ISD students.
