Honoring Our Heroes: Klein ISD Hosts 23rd Annual Veterans Day Breakfast & Program

The Klein ISD community gathered to honor Veterans and active-duty military personnel for the 23rd Annual Klein ISD Veterans Day Breakfast & Program.

It is with great honor that Klein ISD celebrates and expresses immense gratitude to these heroes.

“Today, we honor every man and woman who’s ever worn the uniform of our Nation’s military—those who’ve courageously protected our freedom and fought for justice throughout our history," Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. "We come together to express our deepest gratitude for the sacrifices and contributions you and your family have made for our beloved country. Thank you for your unwavering service in times of peace and in times of war, at home, and abroad. Thank you for being heroes in the greatest country in the world, the United States of America.”

The event was made all the more remarkable as members from the Klein Oak AFJROTC, Klein Cain High School AJROTC, the Klein Oak Band, and Ulrich Intermediate Choir were in attendance to continue honoring our cherished Veterans and service members.

“I'm honored to serve as the student narrator for this amazing celebration,” Klein Oak AFJROTC Cadet Zoey Heaps said. “It feels great to speak in front of our wonderful Veterans and to honor their service and sacrifice.”

Special guest speaker and Army Veteran United States Congressman Wesley Hunt addressed the audience with a particular emphasis on celebrating U.S. veterans.

In the audience was Marine Veteran Steven Coleman, who was grateful to see the Klein Family celebrate our outstanding Veterans who answered the call bravely.

“To be around all these other veterans and to participate in this has been wonderful,” Mr. Coleman said. “It really made me feel more connected, more love with my community. It's fabulous that the school district is hosting something like this.”

From The Ulrich Intermediate Choir performing "God Bless America" to the phenomenal Klein Oak Band playing "The Star Spangled Banner" and an Armed Forces Medley, overwhelming pride could be seen across the ballroom. We also enjoyed a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem by Champion Forest Baptist Church Praise Team Leader Durell Comedy.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to our Veterans. Special thank you to the many folks who helped make Veterans Day a unique and memorable day. We honored those who deserve the most recognition with every single one of you.
