Tax season is upon us, and the Klein Oak and Klein Cain students are here to help with your tax needs again this year! Klein ISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) students from Klein Oak and Klein Cain High School in the Accounting & Financial Services Pathway have been trained and certified as tax preparers through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.*

The VITA program has operated for over 50 years. It provides free tax help for individuals with incomes of $67,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and Limited English-speaking taxpayers.

Two high school campus locations are open for services: Klein Oak High School at 22603 Northcrest Drive or Klein Cain High School at 10201 Spring Cypress Road

Service dates are located below, and tax services are by appointment. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you can email for an appointment at your desired location:

Klein Oak location: kleinoakvita@kleinisd.net
OR
Klein Cain location: kleincainvita@kleinisd.net

Please remember to bring the necessary tax preparation documentation:

  • Government Issued Photo ID
  • Social Security cards and/or ITIN cards for all family members
  • W-2s for all 2024 jobs held
  • Documents of any other Income
  • Documentation of Expenses (ex., Real Estate taxes, mortgage interest paid, etc.)

*VITA/TCE services are not only free, but they are also a reliable and trusted source for preparing tax returns. All VITA/TCE volunteers who prepare returns must take and pass tax law training that meets or exceeds IRS standards. This training includes maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of all taxpayer information. In addition to requiring volunteers to certify their knowledge of the tax laws, the IRS requires a quality review check for every return prepared at a VITA/TCE site before filing. Each filing season, tens of thousands of dedicated VITA/TCE volunteers prepare millions of federal and state returns. They also assist taxpayers with the preparation of thousands of Facilitated Self-Assistance returns.
