Klein Cain High School has been named a state winner and National Finalist of the 2023-24 National Football Foundation (NFF) National High School Academic Excellence Award, Presented by the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation.

This prestigious honor recognizes the top academic football teams in each state. Klein Cain is the only Houston-area public school to receive this accolade, showcasing its commitment to academic and athletic excellence.

“It is such an incredible honor for our Klein Cain Football team to receive this prestigious recognition,” Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “Our Hurricanes consistently demonstrate their true character and grit and continue to remind us of our tradition of excellence in both academics and athletics. Congratulations to these fantastic student-athletes and coaches!”

The eligibility criteria include a minimum team GPA of 3.0, superior academic performance, and a successful football season.

“Here at Klein Cain High School, we always say that we will display a ‘Culture of Commitment,’” Klein Cain Athletic Director James Clancy said. “Everything we do here will be designed to help our students become champions in the classroom and in competition. I am extremely proud of the hard work and dedication our student-athletes have put towards fostering this culture. This award and recognition does not happen without the collaboration between our coaches, teachers, staff, and school administrators who exemplify the district’s vision of Promise to Purpose.”

With this recognition, the school was named a finalist for the NFF Hatchell Cup, which honors the top high school football team in the nation.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the hard work being done by our athletics department and football team at Klein Cain,” Klein ISD Executive Director of Athletics and Student Services Brandon Baker said. This recognition represents the hard work and dedication the team puts forth, on and off the field. Congratulations to the team, and keep up the great work!”

Congratulations to Klein Cain High School football for this outstanding recognition! Your dedication to success in the classroom and on the field is truly admirable.
