Klein ISD Celebrates Five Years of Leadership with Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown

KLEIN, TX—Klein ISD proudly marks the five-year anniversary of Dr. Jenny McGown's exceptional service as superintendent. Since taking the helm in July 2019, McGown has steered the district through significant challenges and successes, underscoring her commitment to education and the community.

As the first-ever female superintendent of Klein ISD, Dr. McGown has continued building upon the district's legacy of excellence in education and strong fiscal management. During this time, she has earned numerous leadership accolades, including being recognized as the 2022 Region 4 Superintendent of the Year, State Finalist for Texas Superintendent of the Year, Top Superintendent to Watch by the National Public Relations Association, and Houston Business Journal's Most Admired CEO, in addition to several honors from local and national outlets.

Dr. McGown has played a pivotal role in developing first-in-the-state programs for students to earn advanced degrees before graduating from high school, celebrating Klein ISD's first elementary school to be honored as a National Blue Ribbon School, and improving overall student performance and outcomes in Academics, the Arts, and Athletics, including over $63 million in scholarships. Under her leadership, Klein ISD has been named the Districts of Distinction National District of the Year and an H-E-B Excellence in Education State Finalist.

Under her guidance, Klein ISD's strong fiscal management has earned the district numerous recognitions for achieving excellent educational outcomes while conservatively managing financial resources. As a result of efficient financial stewardship, Dr. McGown secured a historic salary increase and introduced the first-ever Klein Family loyalty incentive, making Klein ISD one of the top three districts in Region 4 for experienced teacher pay.

Dr. McGown has led a strategic remapping process involving thousands of stakeholders and secured the passage of the largest bond in Klein ISD history, amounting to $895.3 million. Numerous bond projects have been completed or are underway, including enhancing safety and security measures at all district facilities, modernizing schools over 50 years of age, and technology for students, staff, and classrooms.

Dr. McGown serves on numerous boards, including the Harris County Safe School Commission, the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts Board, the Northwest Assistance Ministries Board, Loving Houston, and the Klein Education Foundation.

Dr. McGown's unwavering dedication to her students has created a nurturing environment built on trust, teamwork, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
