Klein ISD JROTC units have earned seven “Exceeds Standards” ratings in recent military inspections, including three perfect scores. Cadets also compete in more than 50 events annually, achieving success at the local, state, and national levels.

Cadet First Lieutenant Painter led the ceremony, guiding attendees through the time-honored military tradition and highlighting the dedication of Klein ISD’s JROTC cadets.

The Pass In Review, a longstanding military tradition, allowed cadets to display their precision and teamwork in formation drills. Reviewing the performance were Klein High School’s Senior Aerospace Science Instructor, Lieutenant Colonel Tim Lambert, and Klein ISD Police Chief Marlon Runnels, a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve veteran.

Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown recognized the program’s impact on students and the community.

“I am so proud of our incredible Klein ISD JROTC cadets from all five high schools for their outstanding performance at this year’s Pass in Review ceremony,” Dr. McGown said. “Their dedication, discipline, and leadership were on full display as they honored the traditions of military excellence. Thank you to our cadets, instructors, and families for your commitment to excellence and service. It was an inspiring morning filled with patriotism and pride in our country and Klein community.”

The event also recognized the JROTC instructor teams:

  • Klein Oak High School: Senior Master Sergeant Chad Johnson and Senior Master Sergeant Victor Vale
  • Klein Cain High School: Major Carl Lockett and Master Sergeant Valarie Smith
  • Klein Forest High School: Lieutenant Colonel Donovan Kanak and Senior Master Sergeant Will Hardy
  • Klein Collins High School: Major Alan Fields and Master Sergeant Robert Morse
  • Klein High School: Lieutenant Colonel Tim Lambert and Master Sergeant Marvin Tasby

Cadet Colonel Cinthya Cruz, who served as Delta Adjutant in this year’s Pass In Review, reflected on the significance of the role.

“My experience as being an adjutant for this parade was great," Cadet Colonel Cruz said. "I was able to show the audience and the cadets in the Pass In Review my confidence and enthusiasm as a cadet myself, and show that I have the ability to come out of my comfort zone and obtain a position that most people won’t.”

The ceremony highlighted JROTC’s role in preparing students for future leadership, whether through military service, college ROTC programs, or careers in other fields. The 2025 Pass In Review reinforced the program’s emphasis on character, teamwork, and respect for military tradition.
