Klein ISD’s Career and Technical Education program continues the district’s legacy of excellence, having been recognized as a District of Distinction by the Career and Technical Association of Texas (CTAT)

Klein ISD is one of only 38 out of over 1,200 statewide districts to receive this designation.

“Every day, our CTE students and teachers demonstrate an inspiring level of dedication, passion, and skill that sets them apart,” Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “This prestigious recognition is a testament to our district’s unwavering commitment to equipping students with transformative learning experiences and real-world opportunities that prepare them for bright futures. Congratulations to our outstanding CTE students and staff on this well-earned achievement!”

The CTE District of Distinction program, launched by CTAT, highlights districts that excel in workforce readiness, foster innovation in CTE, and inspire others through their dedication to student achievement and community impact.

Klein ISD CTE is a regional, state, and national leader. Its first-of-its-kind Geospatial Engineering & Land Surveying Program, developed by Klein ISD, is recognized by the Texas Education Agency as an official Program of Study and has been adopted by regions across the state. This innovative program is one of six CTE programs in Klein ISD, offering students the opportunity to earn a college degree while still in high school.

Houston Education Research Consortium (HERC), a Rice University Kinder Institute program, found that Klein ISD had more students graduate having completed CTE programs than other districts in the Houston region. Klein ISD CTE graduates also had higher enrollment rates than the region in two and four-year colleges. These findings reinforce the Klein ISD CTE program's impact in preparing students for continued education and career advancement.

“I am incredibly proud of our district being recognized as a CTAT CTE District of Distinction. This honor reflects the hard work, innovation, and dedication of our teachers, administrators, and counselors at the campus level, the commitment of our team, and the invaluable support of our industry and community partners,” Klein ISD CTE Director Deborah Bronner-Westerduin said. “As a district that leads the way, we are committed to providing transformative experiences that prepare students for college and future careers. This recognition is a testament to the power of collaboration and a shared vision of excellence in CTE.”

Over 26,000 Klein ISD students, Grades 7-12, are enrolled in CTE programs. The district offers 58 programs, which include Dual Credit, Practicum, and Capstone courses, and approximately 70 industry-based certifications are provided by the district. Klein ISD students also participate in CTE co-curricular organizations, which extend teaching and learning through innovative programs, business and community partnerships, and leadership experiences at the school, state, and national levels.

CTAT's designation of Klein ISD as a District of Distinction is a testament to the district’s dedication to providing exceptional opportunities for students through innovative programs, strong leadership, and meaningful industry partnerships.

Congratulations to the outstanding Klein ISD CTE department on this recognition. Your Klein Family is so proud of all the work you do!
