Klein ISD Showcases Community Service and Financial Stewardship through Energy Conservation

KLEIN, TX – The Klein ISD Energy Management Department’s successful participation in energy conservation programs offered by CenterPoint Energy and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has resulted in the department receiving $61,479 in incentives.

This initiative exemplifies the district's commitment to community service and demonstrates prudent financial management. During the peak summer months, when energy grid conditions are most critical, Klein ISD's Energy Management Department actively engages in efforts to curtail energy usage.

"By participating in these programs, we contribute to the stability of the power grid, ensuring that essential services such as nursing homes, daycare centers, and residences for the elderly and critically ill can continue to operate without power interruptions,” Klein ISD Energy Manager Melissa Crizer said.

In a gesture of gratitude and collaboration, the Energy Management Department distributed over $12,000 of the earned incentives to nine participating campuses on February 28th.

The pilot campuses included Klein Oak High School, Hildebrandt Intermediate, Kleb Intermediate, Ehrhardt Elementary, Hassler Elementary, Klenk Elementary, Krahn Elementary, Kreinhop Elementary, and Schultz Elementary.

"We extend our heartfelt thanks to these campuses for their invaluable service and participation in these critical programs," Crizer said.

The remaining funds retained by the Energy Management Department will be reinvested into the district's facilities to enhance energy efficiency further.

Looking forward, the district is enthusiastic about the expanded participation of over 20 facilities in these energy conservation programs, continuing to serve the community while promoting sustainability.

Our immense gratitude goes out to our phenomenal Energy Management Department for their work toward finding the best possible ways to conserve energy while also supporting our schools. Congratulations!
