Klein High salutatorian Mahtab Dastur is a great student who actively serves her community.

The accolades for this salutatorian are numerous and they include 2-time Parliament of World’s Religions Speaker and Performer, Youngest Moderator at World Zoroastrian Congress, HOSA - Future Health Professionals: International Qualifier, 2-time State Qualifier, Speech & Debate: 3-time State Qualifier & NSDA Districts Qualifier, National Merit Commended Scholar, AP Scholar with Distinction, and a FEZANA International Journal: 5+ time published author.

Aside from her many accomplishments in the classroom, Mahtab also stays busy with extracurricular activities. She is involved in HOSA—Future Health Professionals, Speech & Debate, National Honor Society, Spanish, Math, and English Honor Societies, Student Council, and so much more!

The dedicated Bearkat is involved in many activities outside of school, including Books2Smiles, Project CARV (Community Awareness for Relationship Violence), Northwest Assistance Ministries, the Zoroastrian Association of Houston, Zoroastrian Youth of North America, the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America, and the Houston Food Bank.

“Mahtab is one of the kindest people I know. She has a unique combination of ambition and empathy that will make her a great leader,” Mahtab’s teacher Darren Frazee said. “I know that Mahtab will go on to do great things. I will miss Mahtab as she goes to college; her humor and kind spirit always brightened up my room and our team. I look forward to watching her grow as she heads off to tackle new challenges.”

Within all of these different organizations, Mahtab serves as the Books2Smiles Co-Founder + President, the Project CARV (Community Awareness for Relationship Violence) Co-Founder, the Northwest Assistance Ministries Youth Board Co-Founder + Chair, the Speech & Debate President, the Zoroastrian Association of Houston Youth Group President, the Zoroastrian Youth of North America Religion & Culture Sub-committee Co-chair, the Spanish National Honor Society Vice President, the National Honor Society Secretary, the HOSA - Future Health Professionals Membership Officer, the Math National Honor Society Secretary, and AVA Project Team Lead.

After graduation, Mahtab plans to attend a university in Texas and pursue a Public Policy major with a pre-med track.
