Meet John Nguyen: Klein Forest Valedictorian
Terencia Lee

Klein Forest Valedictorian John Nguyen is a scholar with extreme dedication to his studies and a bright future.

John is heading to Vanderbilt University for college and will be on the pre-med track. His ultimate goal is to become a skilled and compassionate general surgeon dedicated to helping others through surgical interventions.

“John Nguyen has been an amazing student in my classes for the past two years as a student in Advanced Anatomy & Physiology and then as a student in Pathophysiology. He is ambitious and hard-working with a kind and generous spirit that is intrinsically motivated to think outside of the box,” Klein Forest Health Science teacher Dr. Shannon McPherson said. “It has been my absolute pleasure to watch this amazing young man mature and realize that he is drawn to helping people in the medical profession. His drive to perform at his best has always kept me on my toes. Simply put, I am blessed to have been a part of his life. I look forward to seeing his accomplishments in the future!”

John has been an active scholar during his high school career. He is a member of several organizations, including RICE Neurocamp, HOSA, the National Honor Society, the Interact Club, and the Orchestra.

He was also the senior ambassador for the Asian American Pacific Islander Student Association (AAPISA).

"Reflecting on my time at Klein fills me with profound gratitude for the unwavering support and guidance that shaped my academic and personal journey,” John said. “Dr. McPherson's mentorship has been a guiding light, igniting a passion for learning and critical thinking that continues to illuminate my path. Mr. Ritter's inspiring journey exemplifies the power of dedication and hard work, motivating us all to strive for excellence. Ms. McCharen's invaluable assistance during the college application process, particularly with the Gates Scholarship and QuestBridge, opened doors I never thought possible. To Klein, I extend my thanks for fostering an environment where growth and opportunity flourish."

In addition to his involvement in school, John has been recognized for his accomplishments. He has earned recognitions, including the QuestBridge Scholarship, an EMERGE Fellowship, and 1st place in medical assisting. He is also a SAT ambassador.

Your hard work has paid off, John, and your Klein Family is so proud of you! We look forward to seeing our continued success and the changes you will make as a surgeon.
