KLEIN, TEXAS – Mittelstadt Elementary received a Klein ISD Education Foundation (KEF) grant for the Let’s Communicate program to bridge communication gaps for bilingual families.

In a surprise visit orchestrated by the KEF Celebration Express, the school was honored with the grant in the presence of Foundation directors, community members, and our esteemed Superintendent, Dr. Jenny McGown.

Amidst an atmosphere of joy and excitement, the Mittelstadt Elementary staff welcomed numerous Foundation supporters disembarking from the Celebration Express school bus. They presented substantial grants to recipients across the district, including Mittelstadt Elementary.

The elementary school will use the $2,800 grant sponsored by True North Consulting to provide bilingual labels, prompts, and phrases throughout the school and allow for materials sent home to be in Spanish and English.

With this grant, the school will purchase cardstock and a laminator for the labels, poster paper to print phrases and prompts for teachers and students to access in hallways and use in daily interaction, and paper for materials sent to parents. Through bilingual labels, students and teachers will improve vocabulary, communication, and connections, while parents will stay informed and involved through bilingual informational materials.

Congratulations to Mittelstadt Elementary for their innovative approach to a common challenge,” Klein ISD Community Relations and KEF Director Christy Spisak said. “It is always a great day when we get to make an educator's dream come true!”

This fall, the KEF Celebration Express distributed grants totaling $61,357, enriching educational experiences for our learners. These grants encompass various innovative and engaging projects, from interactive technology tools to writing conferences. The Fall 2024 grant recipients are innovative and serve as a source of inspiration.

We sincerely thank all our grant sponsors for making these initiatives possible. Your support plays a pivotal role in enhancing the educational journey of every Klein ISD student.

The Klein ISD Education Foundation accepts grant applications biannually, encouraging, facilitating, and acknowledging creative projects that drive academic success for our Klein ISD students.
