Quarter 2 Recap and Christmas Holiday Message from our Superintendent Dr. McGown
Dear Klein ISD Families and Community,
We are quickly approaching the end of our Fall semester in Klein ISD and closing out 2023. The end of one season and the beginning of another always gives us a moment to pause, come together, and express our heartfelt appreciation for the blessings that surround us. This season, I’m especially grateful for the unwavering dedication of our Klein Family—our outstanding students, dedicated educators, and supportive parents and families–and I continue to be so proud seeing our Triple A tradition of excellence bringing pride to our Klein, Texas community!
And while for many this is “the most wonderful time of the year,” for others in our Klein Family, the holiday season can be a particularly challenging time. As one of my pastors reminded us recently: “Life is tough, grief is real, and hospitals don’t close in December.” To that end, I am keeping all of those who are grieving the loss of a loved one or battling illness in my thoughts and prayers, and I hope that you will join me in making an extra effort to treat people with kindness and compassion and to reach out to those who may need support. Right here in our Klein community, our wonderful students recently shared their time and talents at the ABC 13 Annual Food Drive to be of service to others, and that’s exactly what this time of year is all about.
Additionally, while we all take time to enjoy the holidays, I want to give special thanks to our Klein Police Department (the first-established and the finest school police department in Texas!) for their service to our school district by working 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to keep our community safe.
Before we say goodbye to this semester and 2023, I would like to share some of the best advice I have ever received. “Be where your feet are”—that is to say, amidst the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, focus on appreciating and finding joy in the moment. I hope that you’ll take the time to relax, recharge, and cherish quality time with family, friends, and loved ones.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year, Klein Family—we’ll see you in 2024!
