Relief Rezoning Update #2 - NOV 17

Relief Rezoning Update #2 - NOV 17
Justin Elbert

Klein ISD began a detailed and comprehensive Relief Rezoning process for the 2024-25 academic year on October 3, potentially impacting all elementary and intermediate schools.

During this past week, Relief Rezoning committee members comprised of parents, teachers, and principals representing every elementary and intermediate school participated in four meetings—two for elementary and two for intermediate.

To understand why Relief Rezoning is necessary, committee members learned about demography data, projected growth, and school capacity. The committee objectively reviewed this data and provided feedback to make the best decision for the entire school district with the goals of:

  • creating more balanced student enrollment at each school, and
  • keeping building capacity at or below 95% utilization for at least the next 5 years.

Please take a moment to review the meeting presentation and Initial Draft Plan from the Relief Rezoning Committee.
