Klein High student Matthew Moland-Hicks has been named 1 of 24 student leaders in Texas for the 2024 Texas Thespians Festival, recognizing his dedication to theater education and advocacy.

“I am incredibly proud of Matthew Moland-Hicks and this prestigious honor,” Klein ISD Director of Fine Arts Frank Chuter said. “Matthew is a phenomenal student leader and is a great representation of the talent and hard work of all of the fine arts students in Klein ISD. Way to go, Matthew!”

This talented student underwent a rigorous selection process, including essays, interviews, and a group presentation on the Theater’s impact on future careers. Before the festival, Matthew’s team collaborated virtually and received mentorship from current student leaders.

At the festival, Matthew presented to a panel of judges, worked a shift at the Texas Thespians store, and participated in one-on-one mentorship. On December 20, he received the exciting news of his selection.

“I am honored and grateful for this opportunity to represent Klein ISD,” Matthew said. “I look forward to learning how to be an effective leader in my theater department for my fellow thespians. I can’t wait to meet the other student leaders and plan the future of Texas thespians!”

In April, Matthew will learn his specific role—either a State Thespian Officer, who teaches and represents Texas Thespians, or a Student Ambassador, who advocates for theater education statewide. His achievement highlights his leadership and passion for the arts.

Congratulations, Matthew! Your #KleinFamily is so proud of you and can’t wait to see what you do next!
