Klein, TX — The Klein ISD Police Department command staff has earned the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA) Agency Trilogy designation, signifying that every member of the department’s command team completed the full Trilogy Leadership Series.
“This department, established in 1982, carries a model very similar to LEEDA of honor, dedication, and leadership,” FBI-LEEDA Executive Director Jaques Battiste said. “The Klein ISD Police Department is the first ISD in the state of Texas to ever receive this award.”
The FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Leadership Series comprises three progressive institutes — Supervisor, Command, and Executive Leadership — designed to develop leadership skills at every level of law enforcement.
Members of the Klein ISD Police Department command staff who completed the Trilogy and are being recognized include Assistant Chief Nathan Polansky, Assistant Chief Jon Turner, Lieutenant Montoya Jones, and Lieutenant Natalie van der Dys.
"The FBI-LEEDA Agency Trilogy designation brings honor to our command staff and the entire Klein ISD Police Department. This achievement demonstrates our organization's ongoing dedication to continuous growth and development through ethical leadership and best practices in law enforcement,” Klein ISD Chief of Police Marlon Runnels said. “Our team views this achievement as a symbol of our duty to lead with integrity while protecting school safety and delivering exceptional service to students, staff, and other members of our Klein Family."
Over the course of three intensive, week-long programs, the department’s command team explored key principles of ethical decision-making, effective communication, and organizational accountability, thereby enhancing their leadership identity. By completing the Supervisor, Command, and Executive Leadership institutions, they are equipped to lead effectively, from frontline supervision to executive command.
“This designation exemplifies top-notch police leadership that prioritizes the safety and well-being of every student and staff member in Klein ISD,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “The first and finest school district police department in Texas continues to lead the way and set the standard of excellence to which others aspire. We are so grateful to Chief Runnels, the command staff, and our entire police department for their exceptional commitment to safety and keeping Klein safe!”
This recognition reflects the Klein ISD Police Department’s ongoing dedication to professional excellence and prioritization of safety first in our school district. By investing in leadership development at every level, Klein ISD continues to set a high standard for school-based law enforcement agencies across Texas and beyond.
We’re so proud of these leaders. Congratulations on this well-earned achievement!
