KLEIN, TEXAS – Schultz Elementary has been awarded a $7,500 grant from the Klein ISD Education Foundation (KEF) for the “Eagle Flight Lab: Movement and Learning Circuits for All Learners” initiative, a movement and learning studio designed to support students in Special Education, Behavior Support, and general education.
In a surprise visit from the KEF Celebration Express, Schultz Elementary was honored with the grant alongside Foundation directors, community members, and Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown.
Led by grant writers Heathir Fosher, Eileen McCormack, Joshua Bass, Sheila Siddall, Renee Quintanilla, and Tamara Small, and sponsored by Brian and Jenny McGown, the Eagle Flight Lab will strengthen student regulation, language, early literacy, numeracy, and STEM thinking through intentional movement and hands-on discovery. The studio will feature balance beams, stepping stones, tactile letter and number sets, a Light Laboratory, swivel movement chairs, and additional flexible tools that support a wide range of learner needs.
Students will rotate through four short learning circuits that blend movement, language, and problem-solving. Each circuit is carefully designed so tasks can be adjusted for different ability levels, ensuring every student can participate meaningfully. By supporting regulation and engagement, the Eagle Flight Lab helps students listen, attend, and more fully participate in academic instruction throughout the school day.
The program will roll out in phases, starting with Special Education and Behavior Support classes in the initial launch. After collecting data on student growth and engagement, Schultz Elementary will host a Family Fun Night to model how movement and regulation routines can be used at home. Following that event, the Eagle Flight Lab will expand to serve all student groups on campus, creating a unified, inclusive space for every Eagle to learn and grow.
This grant brings movement and hands-on learning together to support students of all abilities at Schultz Elementary,” Klein ISD Education Foundation Director Christy Spisak said. “We’re thrilled the Foundation can fund innovative programs that strengthen learning, engagement, and success for every learner.
By integrating movement, sensory experiences, and academic learning, the Eagle Flight Lab will provide Schultz students with powerful tools to build confidence, independence, and readiness to learn, while reinforcing Klein ISD’s commitment to meeting the needs of every learner.
This fall, the KEF Celebration Express distributed grants totaling $62,057, enriching educational experiences for our learners. These grants encompass various innovative and engaging projects, from VR labs to STEM builders. The Fall 2025 grant recipients are innovative and serve as a source of inspiration.
We sincerely thank all our sponsors for making these initiatives possible, enhancing the educational experience, and fostering the growth of Klein ISD students. The Klein ISD Education Foundation accepts grant applications biannually and supports creative projects that enrich student learning and drive academic success.
