KLEIN – Klein ISD is proud to celebrate that our Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown was named a national finalist for the 2026 District Administration Superintendent of the Year award through the District Administration Awards of Distinction program. Dr. McGown was one of only three finalists nationwide for the honor and the only finalist from Texas.
This honor recognizes her student-centered leadership and Klein ISD’s tradition of excellence in academics, the arts, and athletics. Since being named superintendent in 2019, Dr. McGown has advanced programs and practices that expand student opportunities in Academics, the Arts, and Athletics by keeping students at the center of every decision. Her leadership is grounded in her deep connection to Klein ISD, having served the district as a classroom teacher, principal, and district leader.
“Dr. McGown leads with heart, steady purpose, and a clear focus on what is best for students and staff,” Klein ISD Board President Doug James said. “This national recognition honors her leadership and the work of our teachers, staff, and families who help students grow every day.”
Under Dr. McGown’s direction, Klein ISD launched the state’s first Geospatial Engineering and Land Surveying program and broadened college, career, and military readiness options for students. The district also redesigned specialized programs including advanced academics, special education, and career and technical education programs to better serve today’s students. These efforts have resulted in increased student access to high-value industry certifications and student attainment of college credit prior to high school graduation, so graduates exit Klein ISD ready to pursue their purpose in college, career, or military pathways.
District Administration Awards of Distinction highlight education leaders and district initiatives that produce meaningful, lasting results. Honorees represent districts that are driving academic growth, strengthening school culture, investing in their people, and building innovative pathways for learners.
