Klein ISD proudly celebrated a milestone with its first-ever Spanish Spelling Bee, an event that uplifted bilingualism, community, and student achievement.

Congratulations to our outstanding winners:

1st Place – Olivia Sofia Martinez of Bernshausen Elementary

2nd Place – Isabella Gomez of Schultz Elementary

“I feel very proud of myself because I worked hard learning all the words. I'm thankful for my parents and family for supporting and pushing me to be the best that I can be,” Olivia shared. “I am excited to represent Bernshausen at the Regional competition.”

Inspired by Region 4’s leadership in launching Spanish spelling bees, Klein ISD eagerly embraced the opportunity. With Region 4’s guidance, the planning team carefully organized logistics to ensure a welcoming and meaningful experience for all participants.

“This inaugural Spanish Spelling Bee honored multilingualism as an academic strength and showcased the brilliance of our students and community,” Klein ISD Director of Multilingual Education Betty Zavala said.

A big thank you to our students, families, educators, judges, and organizers who came together to celebrate bilingualism and biliteracy in such a meaningful way.

We are so proud of all our Spanish Spelling Bee participants, and congratulations again to our winners! Every student demonstrated courage, dedication, and a deep love for language, making this inaugural event a true success.
