Klein Collins senior Rayaan Khan is making a difference in his community and beyond by finding an innovative way to close the digital divide.
Rayaan has partnered with Works360 to bring technology to those in need. Through his work with the organization, he uses discarded demo devices from companies like Intel, HP, Microsoft, and Google that are no longer needed and donates them to under-resourced schools and youth programs.
"I have always been fascinated by how technology can change lives," Rayaan told PRNewswire. "With 360Assist and PLAiEdu, we want to give students more than just devices. We want to give them the skills and confidence to use technology to explore new possibilities."
The focus of this initiative is to put like-new technology to good use rather than storing it. Over the last five years, Rayaan has helped coordinate the donation and distribution of around 250 devices through Works360’s 360Assist initiative.
The devices have supported students in underserved communities and programs in Houston, Costa Rica, Brazil, Pakistan, and Hawaii, helping provide access to technology for learning, exposure to AI, and basic coding education.
Rayaan was inspired to get involved with this work because of his passion for technology. He plans to attend a four-year university and study computer engineering. He aspires to focus on computer hardware and architecture.
We are so proud to have students like Rayaan in the Klein Family; his dedication to service is truly admirable. Great job, Rayaan!
