Twenty student-athletes signed letters of intent for the college of their choice, many with high-dollar scholarships attached, during Klein Oak’s National Signing Day celebration.
“It’s always amazing to see our student-athletes receiving opportunities to continue their playing careers at the collegiate level,” Klein Oak Athletic Director Brandon Carpenter said. “So much work goes into this day for everyone involved. It’s truly a great time to celebrate our kids and community!”
The signing day ceremony recognized many years of hard work and was emotional for students, teams, families, and coaches.
“Participating in Signing Day was like a dream come true. Walking out and seeing all the people there to support their loved ones was surreal. Knowing that all the hard work, countless hours in the gym, and the sacrifices I’ve made finally paid off really put my mind at ease," student signee Rylan Kelly said. "Being able to take pictures with everyone who showed up to support me — whether family or friends I’ve made along the way — made me so grateful for my amazing support system. Signing Day was truly amazing and something I believe every student-athlete should experience.”
Student signee Josephine Clark is proud to commit to Illinois Wesleyan University and has also been looking forward to signing day.
“Signing Day is exciting and overwhelming at the same time,” Josephine said. “I’ve put so much time and hard work into this sport, and knowing it paid off feels really rewarding. I’m especially grateful to my coach, Coach Jones, who’s been there for me every step of the way, on and off the mat, and he’s the reason I’m standing here today. I also want to thank my mom, dad, and grandma for always supporting me.”
