Number 1 K-12 Employer in America

Klein, Texas - Klein ISD has been ranked the No. 1 K-12 employer in the nation on Forbes America’s Best Large Employers 2026 list.

This new national recognition follows recent news from 2025, when Forbes ranked Klein ISD the No. 1 Education Employer in Texas on its America's Best-In-State Employers 2025 list.

In this national list, Forbes ranked Klein ISD ahead of well-known brands and major institutions, including H-E-B, Nike, and Johns Hopkins University, on its America’s Best Large Employers 2026 list.

Klein ISD is the only K-12 school district listed in the top 150 and the highest-ranked school district on the list.

What's Driving the Recognition

"Our amazing employees are the story here," Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. "Forbes surveyed our dedicated employees who show up every day for our kids. This recognition reflects our commitment to our over 7,000 excellent Klein Family members, a culture where every team member knows their contributions matter."

Over the past few years, Klein ISD has invested in employee support across several areas, including:

  • Professional Growth: Strengthening professional learning opportunities district-wide.

  • Time-Saving Technology: Introducing tools like MagicSchool, which helps teachers save time on planning, feedback, and other tasks so they can focus more of their energy on being with students and supporting their learning.

  • Work-Life Balance: Adopting academic calendars with multiple teacher planning days and additional scheduled breaks throughout the school year.

What This Means for Families

For parents and community members, this ranking provides external validation of what makes Klein ISD special. Happy, supported educators create positive, stable learning environments where students thrive. The district's ability to attract and retain top talent directly translates to classroom excellence.

How the Rankings Work
Forbes compiles their nationwide lists from anonymous survey responses from more than 217,000 employees across the country who were asked whether they would recommend their employer. Klein ISD staff said yes at rates that ranked higher than almost every organization in the nation.

The Forbes rankings, conducted independently with market research firm Statista, required no fee or application to be ranked. Employers cannot pay for placement. The list represents the unfiltered voices of working Americans rating their own employers.

Sponsors Who Helped Make This Possible
There is a required licensing fee to use the Forbes name and branding after the award is earned. We are grateful to Pogue Construction, Campus Kids, LLC, and MagicSchool for generously covering the Forbes licensing fee. No taxpayer dollars were used.
