KLEIN – Klein ISD is updating the name of its early college high school program to Klein Early College High School, reflecting continued growth and increased demand from students and families across the community. The program was formerly called the Vistas Early College Program.
District leaders said the updated name better represents the program’s districtwide reach and aligns with Klein ISD’s long-term goal of expanding access to accelerated academic opportunities.
“Klein ISD has seen strong interest in early college programs, and this name change represents our continued focus on making these opportunities available to more students,” Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “As we expand access districtwide, the name Klein Early College High School clearly communicates that this program is for all Klein ISD students.”
Klein Early College High School provides students with a rigorous high school experience while allowing them to earn college credit at the same time. Through Klein ISD’s partnership with Lone Star College–University Park, students have the opportunity to graduate with an associate degree alongside their high school diploma, at no cost to families.
District officials emphasized that while the name is changing, the school’s mission and student support will remain the same.
“This updated name reflects both the growth of the program and the increasing number of students who want to take advantage of early college opportunities,” Associate Director of Klein Early College High School Susan Murphy said. “Our focus remains on ensuring students across Klein ISD have access to a program that prepares them for college, careers, and beyond.”

Same school, same mission: While the name is evolving, our commitment remains unchanged. Students will continue to benefit from our strong early college model and dedicated support systems, attending classes at Vistas High School and on the Lone Star campus.
A clearer districtwide identity: The new name reinforces that the program is part of Klein ISD and is intended to serve students across the district.
Transition details: The name change will be reflected in district communications, signage, and materials beginning April 1, 2026.
