Klein Forest High School Assistant Principal Mr. Desmond Robinson, Assistant Principal Ms. Aisha Taylor, and Head Football Coach Mr. Darrick Vaughn were named recipients of this year’s Klein ISD Superintendent’s Initiative Award.
The Superintendent’s Initiative Award celebrates employees who embody Klein ISD’s commitment to excellence through innovative practices and a relentless focus on student and community impact, recognizing their outstanding leadership, innovation, and dedication to student success.
The honorees earned this award by going above and beyond to serve their Klein Forest community by organizing the distribution of 300 complete Thanksgiving meals with the assistance of Bridging the Gap, an organization led by a former Klein Forest educator, Omar Durham. The meals donated to families included turkeys and canned goods donated by Klein Forest students and staff.
"We are so grateful to Mr. Robinson, Ms. Taylor, and Coach Vaughn for their incredible leadership and dedication,” Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown said. “Their efforts ensured that hundreds of Klein Forest families and community members were supported during the holiday season, providing not just meals, but hope and care to those who needed it most. This is a powerful example of service that extends far beyond the classroom and embodies the spirit of giving and community that we hope to inspire in every student."
Klein Forest Principal Lance Alexander praised the honorees for their dedication and the meaningful difference they continue to make on campus and in the community.
“We are incredibly proud of Desmond, Aisha, and Darrick,” Mr. Alexander said. “They exemplify what it means to serve students and families with purpose and compassion. Their leadership continues to strengthen our campus every day.”
The Superintendent’s Initiative Award recognizes those who embody Klein ISD’s commitment to excellence through innovative practices with a relentless focus on student and community impact.
“I’m grateful our efforts made a meaningful impact for families in our community this past holiday season,” Coach Vaughn said. “Receiving this award was unexpected but reminds us that acts of kindness can have a far-reaching effect. It was rewarding to see the joy this initiative brought to staff, students, and parent volunteers who gave their time and energy. Special thanks to all involved who gave their support in making the turkey drive a success.”
Moments like this remind us what makes Klein ISD special: educators who inspire and serve, build connections, and create meaningful opportunities for students and families.
“Part of the Assistant Principal's role is to make sure that kids are successful,” Assistant Principal Robinson said. “I realized a long time ago that it's more than an academic need. There are emotional needs we have to make sure that we see to. There are physical needs we must meet to ensure every student has what they need to walk into the classroom ready to learn at high levels.”
Building on that commitment to serving the whole child, campus leaders like Ms. Taylor emphasize that true student success goes beyond academics.
"Inspire. Influence. Impact. This award is the result of leadership that goes beyond words and turns it into action,” Ms. Taylor said. “I’m honored, but even more grateful, to help lead a campus that shows up, gives back, and makes a difference where it matters most, especially with the incredible support of our collaborating organization, Bridging The Gap."
Congratulations to Mr. Robinson, Ms. Taylor, and Mr. Vaughn; your leadership continues to make a lasting difference in the Klein Forest community and in Klein ISD.
