KLEIN – Greenwood Forest Elementary School has been awarded a $4,032 grant from the Klein ISD Education Foundation (KEF) for the “Greenwood Garden & Monarch Waystation” initiative, an inspiring hands-on project that will transform an existing campus space into a vibrant outdoor learning environment for all kindergarten through 5th-grade students.

In a surprise visit from the KEF Celebration Express, Greenwood Forest Elementary was honored with the grant alongside Foundation directors, community members, and Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown.

Led by grant writers Andrea Partridge, Sara Dorsett, and Cristina Rico Hernandez and sponsored by Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, “Greenwood Garden & Monarch Waystation” will create a Monarch butterfly habitat that supports breeding and migration while also serving as an engaging space for science instruction and student-led projects. Through this initiative, students will have the opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world environmental experiences in a meaningful and memorable way.
