KLEIN – Benignus Elementary School has been awarded a $21,100 Lead the Spark grant from the Klein ISD Education Foundation (KEF) for the “Leopards Go Full STEAM Ahead!” initiative. This innovative campuswide project will provide all Pre-K through 5th-grade students with dedicated STEAM learning experiences designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving.
In a surprise visit from the KEF Celebration Express, Benignus Elementary was honored with the grant alongside Foundation directors, community members, and Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown.
Led by grant writers Heidi Sebren, Leane Krause, Tracey Hall, Kim Walla, Stephanie Cullar, and Jessica Weaver, and sponsored by PBK, “Leopards Go Full STEAM Ahead!” will give students the opportunity to participate in hands-on, interdisciplinary learning every other week through a rotating schedule of engaging STEAM stations. These experiences will include science labs, engineering makerspaces, library and research, art integration, and mathematics, all designed to deepen understanding through exploration and real-world application.
