KLEIN – Mahaffey Elementary School has been awarded a $1,575 grant from the Klein ISD Education Foundation (KEF) for “Printed Paws,” an initiative that brings 3D printing technology to campus to enhance hands-on learning, increase student engagement, and support Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

In a surprise visit from the KEF Celebration Express, Mahaffey Elementary was honored with the grant alongside Foundation directors, community members, and Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown.

Led by grant writers Laya Espinoza, Katie Di Carlo, Krystal Espinoza, and Claire Howard, and sponsored by Stantec, the project will introduce 3D printers to support both classroom instruction and student incentives. Students will have opportunities to earn small, personalized rewards created with the printers. Teachers will design and produce customized instructional materials such as math manipulatives, science models, and interactive learning tools.
